Group Presentation Comments

NO CLASS ON WED.
EXPAND ON YOUR PRESENTATIONS, PREPARE and BE READY
WE WILL MEET ON  9/29
HERE ARE YOUR NOTES
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, POST THEM ON THE BLOG

Group 1: Ellie Barrera/ Maria Palomo / Jason Izaguirre (Not Present)
·         Visual
·         Make it fun? à What is this according to Haberman?
·         Good visuals
·         I think it could use better connections and correlations with the article
·         Good example about the friend who wants to be a teacher but possibly not passionate about it àHow does that tie into what Haberman is discussing?
·         Rich and the poor à That’s not what he is saying
·         Relationships

Your group is presenting on the relationships established…..  You need to be clearer on where you’re going with your presentation.  I want ya’ll to tell me exactly what you will be discussing at the onset of your presentation.  The information that you will be presenting will deal with how Haberman talks about it in his article.  I think that yall have an idea, you just need to make it more clear and cite Haberman, make sure you understand or apply your understanding of the text to what you’re bigger meaning is.

Group 2:
Lorenzo, Leslie (Not Present), Domingo (Not Present)
·         Good Teaching  à Firsthand experience
·         Need better notes à Need actual notes
·         Different teachers
·         I feel like a lot of this stuff is just being made up on the spot
·         Really not prepared

You need to make sure that you prepare a topic for discussion.  Make sure that you incorporate the reading and make sure to reference the article.  Explain what you think Haberman means but as well form your own query and analysis as it pertains to a much bigger picture.  If possibly involve the class.  Be real with us; don’t just overwhelm us with an abundance of information and not tying it to a “bigger meaning”.  Last but not least, PREPARE your Presentation.

Group 3: Santa/ Pricilla
·         Impressions of what teaching was
·         Different learners
·         Pros & Cons of teaching
·         I think that there’s a lot of telling and know really showing going on with some of the examples used in the presentation
·         Ambition à Encourage Kids à How do you do this??
·         Feelings à Positive self esteem
·         I really liked it à Interesting story
·         It’s not a story, it’s a journal article
·         Really didn’t cite anything within the article

I think your group had a general sense of your topic but it really didn’t come out.  Part of the reason is due to the lack of preparation.  I sensed that both of you were just going to talk about certain things.  I didn't notice a group effort applied to the project.  Both of you were talking about education/pedagogy with reference to children.  That should be an indication of where to go with your presentation.  Where does Haberman come in? How do your experiences relate or contrast what Haberman is saying?  I’m expecting more than “I agree” or “disagree”, or “I like the article”.  Show us that you know what you’re talking about and that you understood what Haberman meant.
